What a
ride we had - it was well worth the prep and permission headache and the
coordinates which Vinod fed in his phone - camping riding in the Chandoli WLS
dirt roads for 2 days really needed this
prep and I am happy we did and the hand drawn map I had was spot on and helped
a lot.
It was not
a ride for me but a dream cherished for 5 years until I could have the
necessary contacts for permmission and gr8 company from 60 kph to make this happen.
Ask the folks on the ride how happy i was :) finally i can sleep at ease( as
Abhi says) for a while before the next dream catches up.
Thanks
guys for the gr8 company witthout which
this ride would not have been possible.
Enjoyed it
all - the insane dirt roads, thick jungles alternating with Sada (Stony waste),
pushing the bikes up Ghotne village, chilly early mornings, star gazing and night
jungle walk, intreacting with the forest guards, our beautiful campsite by the
water hole on day 2, the ride ahead into the WLS with lots of signs of wildlife
though we did not see any (though I was about to but did not have the guts to
wait till I see the animal), vehicle
sounds in the WLS but they came from roads far away in Konkan (did give
a haunting feeling), the ruins of villages moved out long time back, topping it
up with a nice refreshing bath from stream at Nivale, meeting with Hemant and
group who actually helped us with the
permission and meeting with Param and Kanahiya at Satara for amazing
lunch of mutton.
